Karen is a dual-qualified lawyer – admitted to the practice of law in both Ontario and India.

Following her relocation to Canada, she completed the National Committee of Accreditation equivalency exams and was called to the bar in Ontario in the Spring of 2018. Karen joined Agro Zaffiro LLP in 2020 after working with a full-service firm in the Niagara region. Her areas of expertise include:

  • commercial and residential real estate,
  • wills, trusts, estate planning and administration,
  • and general corporate matters.

Karen earned the Trusts and Estates Practitioner (TEP) designation in 2021. The Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) with over 3,000 members in Canada and over 22,000 worldwide grants this internationally recognized designation to formally identify qualified practitioners in trusts and estates and demonstrates that Karen has an advanced understanding of the trust and estates field.

Karen grew up in Mumbai, India, where she attended Government Law College and graduated in law in 2011. A member of the Bombay Incorporated Law Society since 2012, Karen qualified as a Solicitor being one of less than a thousand recognized solicitors by the Supreme Court of India after ranking second nationwide in her examinations. She enjoyed a diverse career in India acting as in-house counsel with one of India’s largest manufacturing companies as well as working in full-service firms in land development, estate planning and administration, and commercial real estate.

Karen is a member of the Hamilton Law Association (HLA), the South Asian Bar Association of Toronto (SABA) and Young Women in Law (YML) and a mentor to immigrant lawyers through NCA Network.

Outside of work, Karen enjoys movies, travelling, cooking, hiking, camping, and occasionally recreational rowing. She is also fluent in Hindi, Marathi, and Konkani, with limited proficiency in Urdu, Punjabi and Gujarati languages.
